Gail A. Jarvis, 75, of Ilion, NY, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her home on Thursday, May 23, 2013. She was born on February 4, 1938 in Forestport, NY, beloved daughter of John and Helen Berg Ferro. Gail graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School. She also was a graduate of Utica School of Commerce. Gail was employed with NY Telephone Co. from 1956-1961. She was also employed with N.Y.S.D.O.C.S. as a keyboard specialist at Midstate C.F. and then at Marcy C.F. from which she retired in 2003. Gail married Max Jarvis October 15, 1960 and from that 22 year union survives her four children; John, Wendy, Doreen Pitera and her husband Thomas, and Shelly. She was predeceased by her daughter Linda. She also leaves five cherished granddaughters who were her "Precious Moments", Katy Jarvis, Theresa Pitera, Clarissa Linder, Brianna Linen and Savanna Jackson; her sister Joan Reinhardt and nephew Billy C. of Thompson, GA. Cherished memories the family will always have with them include; summers in Forestport at their camp "Dust Inn" where there were walks on the railroad tracks to the country store and blueberry picking to make blueberry buckle; she being lovingly nicknames Ma Ingalls; being know as Grandma and Grandma Gail by her "Precious Moments" grandchildren; Christmas Eves where she brought the entire family together; and many more. Gail will always be remembered for her love and devotion to her children. They were the love of her live and they always came first. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 30, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Ryczek Funeral Home, 1123 Court at York Sts., Utica. There will be a memorial service at the conclusion of the visitation, at 7:00 p.m. Interment in Oriskany Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
