Genevieve E. Waskiewicz New Hartford Genevieve E. Waskiewicz 94, of New Hartford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on October 4, 1918 in Utica a daughter of the late Walter and Agnes (Flaga) Ziobro. On April 16, 1945 she was united in marriage to Edward Waskiewicz a blessed union of over 32 years, Mr. Waskiewicz died in 1977. Genevieve completed beauty school in Florida and returned to this area where she worked in a beauty shop on Lincoln Ave. in Utica. Genevieve gave up her career as a beautician once she married Mr. Waskiewicz to work along side her husband in his business at the Varick Restaurant. She was a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick's Church in Utica; she also was a member of the Nu Zeta Theta Club in New Hartford and the West Side Senior Center where she was very active as a volunteer for over 35 years. She enjoyed crocheting blankets and towels and donating many of her crafts to the West Side Senior Center. She loved her friends at the center and always enjoyed her lunches with them. She also enjoyed spending time with her family especially her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, a son Jerry Waskiewicz of Boonville, a daughter Cindy Karp and her husband Gregory of Esperance, NY, her adored grandchildren, Timothy Waskiewicz, Robert Waskiewicz Jr. and his wife Krista, Alyssa Miranda and her husband William and Matthew Karp. She also leaves her great grandchildren, Kathryn, Victoria, Ashley, Alexander and Amanda. She leaves two sisters, Helen Dzialo and her husband Stanley of New Hartford and Joanne Potasiewicz and her husband Raymond of Whitesboro, also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Jane Waskiewicz, a sister Stephanie Smales and brothers, Edward, Adolph and Henry Ziobro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home 13 Oxford Rd. New Hartford, with Rev. Joseph Zareski officiating. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
