Kathleen O'Malley, 83, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at St. Joseph Nursing Home with her family at her side. She was born on March 11, 1930 in New York City, the daughter of Peter and Mary Kate (Lardner) O'Malley. Kathleen was raised and educated in Manhattan, where she worked as a secretary until moving to Utica. She worked for many years at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. She was a talented artist with an appreciation for nature and a love of music, often expressed through her beautiful singing. Kathleen is survived by two sisters, Margaret Hernon and Mary Fierro, as well as her sister-in-law Marie O'Malley. She also leaves many nieces and nephews to whom she was lovingly devoted. She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Ferraro and two brothers, James and Peter O'Malley. The family gratefully acknowledges the Sisters and staff at St. Joseph Nursing Home for the dedicated and loving care Kathleen received over the past several years. The funeral will be on Saturday at 10:00 in the Chapel of St. Joseph's Nursing Home, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. . In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Carmelite Guild at St. Joseph Nursing Home.
