Owen R. Evans Whitesboro Owen R. Evans 89, presently of Sunset Wood in New Hartford and also of White lake passed away peacefully on Thursday February 21, 2013 at the Presbyterian Home He was born in Whitesboro on January 29, 1924 the son of Griffith and Florence (Roberts) Evans Owen was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. On October 22, 1977 he married Betty Bowen DeLaMarter. He was an electrician and was affiliated with the I.B.E.W. He was of the Protestant faith and was a life long member of the St. David's Society and Choir, and also was a member of the New Hartford American legion Post 1376, the Oriskany Lodge F&AM #799 also the Remsen seniors. Owen enjoyed the Adirondacks especially his home on White Lake. Besides his wife Betty he leaves his children, Laurie Evans and her husband Randy Wells of Syracuse, Stephen Evans of Whitesboro, and Robert Evans and his wife Becky of Roxboro, NC. He also leaves his stepchildren, Linda Murphy and her husband William of Clayton, Guy DeLaMarter and his wife Debbie also of Clayton, Michelle Lockwood and her husband Terry of Whitehouse, TX and Lorraine Pearson and her husband Andrew of Colebrook, NH, also 13 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Doris Rasch who died in 1977. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3:00 PM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home Forty Main St. Whitesboro. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please consider the Presbyterian Home, Sunset Wood Apts, or the Woodgate Fire Dept. in his memory, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
