Shirley M. Smaka, 80, of Yorkville, formerly of Marcy and Old Forge, passed away November 14, 2012, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare with her family by her side. She was born in New York Mills on May 26, 1932, a daughter of Harold and Emily Collins Broadhurst. Shirley graduated from New York Mills High School. On October 3, 1953, she married Richard C. Smaka in Holy Trinity Church. She was employed as a secretary at Chicago Pneumatic for 34 years. Following her retirement, she loved the time she spent in Old Forge. Besides her husband; she is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Patricia Broadhurst of Sauquoit; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ronald and Marie Smaka of Whitesboro; favorite aunt, Stella Collins, Yorkville; favorite cousins, Gordon and Carol Strife, Deerfield; and many family members. Funeral services will be Saturday 8:30 from Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main St., Whitesboro, and 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart & St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa, New York Mills, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum of Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday(today), 4:00-7:00 p.m.
